Motorcycle Repair: 1971 honda cl450, regulator problem, condencer

Question
mr erodotos,  I started to have a problem with the bike. the head lamp was starting to go dim at idel and then it would brighten up when i reveup the enguine, so i went through the wireing and replaced the bad connections, it seamed that the rectafier is working also found that on the coil,  one of the wires from the coil to condencer was broken could not solder a new wire so I replaced the whole coil that my wife got on ebay. (cheap) now the bike does not start. I do have power from the points, is there any way i can test the coil to see if it is good ? because I have to take the coil to a motercycle shop in phoenix which is almost 15 miles away and with work its hard to get my toosh down there to test. would greatly welcome your help and comments with this problem of mine thank you  Lee

Answer
well i thing you had a regulator problem. But now you have other conserns:)so if you want to test your ignition coil take a multimeter ,switch to ohms and test the coil.(multimeter lead to primary lead of coil+multimeter lead to primary lead of coil)check if there is continuity ans also check how many ohms are there. For the second test hookup your( meter lead to secondary lead of coil+meter lead to primary)switch your meter to kohms.you should see 5 and above.let me know
