Motorcycle Repair: Engine Shudder, harleys, shudders

Question
Mike,
I have a new 2004 Dyna Super Glide and have gone round and round with my dealer on what I describe as shudder in the engine. I can feel it most of the time but it is especially evident if I have the bike in neutral and increase the throttle a bit (no tach so can't be more specific on RPM). At a slightly increased RPM it shudders so much you can't even see through the mirrors. I am no expert and a relatively new rider and just need to know if this is normal or if it is something I should worry about.

Thanks
David

Answer
Harleys are known for their vibration. It is from the opossing cylinders on a 45 degree and the pistons are not in the same place all the time.
Your shutter is probably normal, unless it is really sevier.
One thing you can do is check with another dealer and get another opinion on the problem.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
