Motorcycle Repair: fuel problem, kz 1000, petcock

i have a 78 kz 1000 and i turn off the gas when not riding.  i still get a spot of gas on the driveway about 12 inches wide.  it is a new petcock, why does the gas still come out. thanks john

Hi John.
 It sounds like the petcock isn't quite sealing closed properly.  This could happen from a slightly improper seat on installation, bad materials or a clog in the fuel tank vent, causing pressure to build up and push the fuel past the closed valve.

 You may also want to double-check your floats to make sure that they are sealing properly as well.
