Motorcycle Repair: i p/u a hayabusa in illionis..., hi ed, illionis

Question
i p/u a hayabusa in illionis and was riding back to ohio stoppped to get gas and i believe i put the kickstand down and the bike cut off. so when i got ready to leave i got the check light so i thought it was low on oil so i put 3qtrs of car oil 10-40w in it so. got it started somehow got home the next day
i changed the oil and filter i put the correct amount in it. now when i start it at idle its ok but when i ride it i hear a slight little tap this guy told me it might be the tentioner needs adjusting because the oil pressure release and it has slack in it. and the air box could be dirty with the excess oil the engine blew in it. some from this what do you think it could be i do not have any fault indecation codes coming up on the panel. thanks ed

Answer
Hi Ed,

Ticking and tapping valves are normal. Similar sounds may come from the cam chain tensioner, too, and are normal.

The guy is giving you accurate information. I think your MC will be okay.

Clean or replace the soaked air filter. Also, remove the drain plugs and drain the airbox hoses under the bike.
