Motorcycle Repair: oil change, sportster 1200, cecil johnson

I just bought a 1999 sportster 1200,from an friend that needed $. I noticed that the oil looked a little dark, I would like to change the oil myself but I can't find the drain plug. I feel stupid asking this,but I want to do this myself.Thanks for any help

Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner as I had a family emergency.
As to your question, remember no question is a stupid question. It is all a learning process!
Look on the bottom of the oil tank and you will see a hose that looks like its attached to the frame. That is your oil drain. There should be a clamp around it. remove it and drain in a pan.
