Question
starts fine. when hot, idling slows down then dies.needs to cool down for a few minutes then starts again. start riding ok but when stopping dies again. compression seems low. stuggles to start when hot period

Answer
Hi Keith,

I recommend buying the service manual to assist you with troubleshooting and maintaining your ZZR400.

Check carburetor synchronization and adjust if necessary.
Check fuel evaporative system.
Check carb and tank vents and hoses for obstructions and pinching.
Check petcock.
Check fuel pump output (if applicable)

Measure cylinder compression and check valve clearances. Both to be within specs before carbs will work properly.
