Motorcycle Repair: no power, yamaha r6, loose wires

I have a 97' Yamaha R6, I turn the key and nothing happens... not even a light comes on. I bought a new battery thinking that was the issue. No luck with that... From my knowledge there are no loose wires and everything is as it was when it was running. Do you have any ideas to help me out? Thanks...

Hi Rebecca.
 All electrical systems have fuses.  Check and see if your main fuse is blown or if it has a loose or dirty connection.

 Also, you should see if the switch is bad or the contacts are dirty.

 My money is on the fuse.  In the future, before you go changing any components and spending big money on replacement parts, test them out.  For a battery, check it with a multimeter and with a hygrometer before you replace it.
