Motorcycle Repair: CB750 ignition, worst case scenario, condensors

Question
You seem to know your way around old honda 4s: My '73 750 sat for too long. I've cleaned every part of each carb, so fuel isn't an issue now (the tank was coated recently). The ignition comes and goes. I replaced the points, set the gap and 2-3 fire just great. 1-4 are less cooperative. I get the engine to run rough around 3krpm. While running, I can watch the 1-4 points spark big, small and not at all. The roughness of the engine follows the spark irregularities. Meanwhile, 2-3 spark smoothly and seem to run just right. I've switched the condensors with no effect. Could this be a bad coil?
You probably already know this but by way of review. The ignition system has 2 sets of points and two coils, running cylinders 1-4 and 2-3 respectively.
Thank you for any help you've got.

Answer
Hi Sameer.
Worst case scenario, you have a bad coil.

But before you go replacing an expensive coil, check the wiring in the circuit.

Make sure that the problem coil is getting full and complete power by checking that all connections are good and clean as well.  Then test the wiring for shorts.

let me know what you find.
Good luck.
