Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha Vstar 650 classic 2002 - problems with starting, vance hines pipes, vstar 650

Question
I bought my Vstar 650 classic new in 2002, never had a problem whatsoever. Decided to have Vance & Hines pipes and a new hyper charger installed this past week. My problem is warming the engine. I start the bike no problem, sounds a little rough, leave it running for a few minutes then slowly push in the choke but, the engine dies. Have to fully open the choke to start again. I let it run a little more with choke open but can only push in the choke maybe 1/4 to a half way in to ride the bike. On a good day, it takes about 15 minutes of riding the bike with choke half way open before I can ride with choke fully closed but, if I'm at a stop light and put the bike on neutral the engine dies on me and I have to open the choke fully to be able to start it again. Brought it to the dealer where they installed the new parts, they say there is nothing wrong with it. I'm still at a loss, can you help? Bringing the bike in again Sept.3rd.

Answer
Hi Anne,

I suspect the carburetion needs additional tuning to accomodate the new pipe.

Can you remove and describe the appearance of the spark plugs to me?

Has your V Star been stored or non-started for awhile?
