Motorcycle Repair: Exhaust pipe replacement, dyna jet, stock pipes

Question
I have a new 2004 H.D. Dyna Super Glide (current mileage is only 750 miles). Can I just replace the stock pipes with a set of slip ons with out a carb re-jet and new air cleaner? Harley wants to charge me nearly $800. I think that is exsessive. Will I damage my bike by just running a set of slip ons without the other added items? I am pleased with the stock performance but just want little more sound? Thanks for your response.

Answer
Your bike came from the factory lean so it would pass EPA standards. Adding free flowing pipes makes it a little more lean. The leaner the bike runs the hotter it runs. If it get running to hot the oil starts to break down and is not as effecent.
Heres what you can do to save some money.

But the pipes and install them yourself
Add the High low aire filter kit yourself
Purchace a Dyna-jet kit and install in the carb. It will give you more throttle responce and richen up the carb where is is suppose to be. It is very easy to install and has great directions to follow. All you will need is a screwdrive and a drill.
Doing the above will save you the labor costs on doing the work.
Good luck and happy riding
