Motorcycle Repair: Scooter engine - cylinder bolt broken, typhoon scooter, worst case scenario

Question
Hi,
I have broken one of 4 bolt holding the cylinder cap on my 50cc Typhoon scooter.

Can it be replaced?
Should i sell the scooter and thats it?

Thx for your help

Answer
Hi Pavel.
 Yes, it can be replaced.

Depending on how far down the bolt has broken off, you may be able to remove it by simply turning it out with a set of vise-grips or you may need to drill it out a bit and use an Easy-out on it or, worst case scenario, you may need to drill it out completely and re-tap the hole with a tap and die set.

I recommend taking the bike to a shop and letting a pro do it if you have never done this before.  If done wrong, it will do irrepairable damage to the engine head and the parts will not go together correctly.

Good luck.
