Motorcycle Repair: Bike Dead, honda shadow ace, safety switches

Question
I have a 1997 Honda Shadow ACE under 4,000 miles.
After driving it for a half a day I shut it off for 1/2 hour. Tried to restart but it was dead. No Click, No Head Light, Fuses in Box all good, Fuse under seat (30 Amp) Good, Marker Lights and Horn work. Had some help to push start and it started. I then drove it home shut it off tried to restart and nothing same as before. (The Battery is putting out almost 13amps.)What do you think it could be or where I should look? If this was a Car I would guess Fuseable Link.

Answer
Hi Norman,

I need to see the wiring diagram before commenting on the problem.

Safety switches may be the cause; side stand switch, clutch switch, neutral switch.

It's a long shot but, consider ignition switch, kill switch, and more likely, the starter button. Look at the starter button and check condition of contacts. I've had corrosion, spiders, and other insects cause starter buttons to prevent starting.

Check all wiring connectors. It helps to add dielectric grease to connectors to prevent water from rain and washing from shorting circuits, and prevents corrosion.

Not much here, but I hope it helps. Keep me posted on your progress. My email is: mshively1@woh.rr.com
