Motorcycle Repair: carb adjustments after changing exhaust, stock muffler, shotgun style

Question
I've got a 2003 FXSTD.  I just purchased a set of Screamin Eagle slip-on mufflers (shorty dual).  My stock muffler was a shotgun style.  Do I really need to take the bike in and have the carb adjusted or purchase a new air breather with the different mufflers?  I haven't noticed any problems with how the bike runs so far, but obviously I don't want to cause any problems with the bike.  Thanks.

Answer
Your bike cam from the factory lean to pass EPA standards. Adding better flowing exhaust makes it run even leaner.
Here is what I suggest.
First, get a high flow air filter kit. This will make the bike breather better.
Second, get a Dyna-jet kit. Installing this kit will richen the bike up and give you better throttle responce.
You should be able to install both yourself.
Good luck and happy riding
