Motorcycle Repair: 82 honda nighthawk charging problems, honda nighthawk, gas gauge

i have a 82 honda nighthawk i bought new in 82. it has 11,000 km on the clock. It has never been wet and i have problems with the battery holding a charge.
it appears after running the bike for one to two hours that the battery simply runs itself dead. that is it does not get enough charging, the turn signals fail, the horn does not work, the gas gauge falls to empty and the bike just quits.
with a battery charge, its good to go.
I have had the bike to honda 3 times.
new battery is installed.
regulator-retifier had been replaced and the stator apparently checks out ok as well.
all specks seem to be ok according to honda.
any suggestions?

Hi Greg,

I cannot believe the techs cannot figure this out in three visits. I suspect the problem never happens when the MC is in their possession. That, I can believe.

Suggestion: Take the MC to another Honda dealership.
