Motorcycle Repair: Restoring an XJ650G, motorcycle salvage yard, hi ed

Is it worth restoring an 1980 Yamaha XJ650G Maxium? I got it for 650.00 and it runs but needs repairs. Should I just make the repairs or restore the bike?

 If you are restoring the bike to ride and/or to show, then yes, it is worth it.  If you are expecting to restore it to resell, then don't bother.

 The XJ series have good motors and as long as there is nothing major wrong with it (like an engine rebuild), it will be a breeze to get running right and looking good.  Used parts for almost everything can be found at a motorcycle salvage yard fairly cheaply.
