Motorcycle Repair: Service light came on, service interval, valve adjustments

Question
I have an 2002 Aprilia Mille with 4800 miles.
I just got a message in the display that says Service.  Is there some analysis device to tell me if there is an issue.  My first check was all the fluids.

Do twins require valve adjustment early or more frequently than strait 4's.

Answer
Hi Andy.
That service light is nothing more than a reminder to get your regularly scheduled service done.  It does not indicate a problem.

As far as the valve adjustments, each bike requires a certain service interval for the engine, which includes the spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, brakes and valves.

They are about the same for most bikes.  Some require a slightly more frequent service than others, but it has nothing to do with the number of cylinders, engine configuration or size.  It has only to do with the design of the engine in question.  Nothing more.

Good luck.
