Motorcycle Repair: 1998 XR70R, honda model, dept id

Question
I was curious to see if you knew how to get the cap off of the head that covers the upper gear for the timing chain.  The motor has overhead valves and the chain runs from the head, through the cylinder, and into the crankcase.  I cannot remove the head or the cylinder without getting the timing chain out of the way.  I appreciate any help you can give me.

I think it's a tolerance fit (gently pry it off), but I'm not sure.
