Motorcycle Repair: 85 gl1500, adverse yaw, gl1500

Question
hi chris,im amechanic looking for a second opion, bike has slite wobble, wheel bearing good, bike has 33000 miles, could neck need retorqted?

Answer
Hi Jim.
The steering head could be slightly loose, but what about the steering head bearings?  The bike is 19 years old, does it look as if everything has been properly maintained on it or has a few things been ignored or only marginally been serviced regularly?  if not, then the steering head bearings may be way overdue for a good greasing.

There is also the possibility of the front discs being slightly warped.  That could cause a slight, repeating adverse yaw in the wheel from the pads dragging slightly on one or both sides.  If the wobble only occurs at high speed, then this is a very real possibility as the wobble would become more pronounced as the dragging was repeating with more frequency.

Those are the things that come to mind based on what you've told me about the bike.  Hope it helps.

Good luck.
