Answer
Mike, watch the points to see if they are arcing excessively when the bike is running, especially at high rpms.
There is a service bulletin on 350-450s for similar problems when the condenser body is not secured to a clean shiny spot on the frame. If you paint or powdercoat the frame/chassis parts, you have to reestablish the ground path to the battery from all the electrical components.

If by chance you restored your carbs with KEYSTER carb kits, I would put the OEM Honda parts back in, especially the jets and needles. Many of the aftermarket carb kits are not to OEM specifications, unfortunately.

Also make sure that your spark advance unit, behind the points is functioning properly. If sticking or frozen in place your timing will not be correct at various engine speeds.

I will assume that your battery is fully charged and the charging system is functioning properly.
