Motorcycle Repair: VFR Mileage, leak down test, cylinder compression

I am looking to purchase a 1994 VFR with 80,000KM. Is this too many KM's? How many KM's will this engine typically put on before it's worn out?

Hi Mike,

Mileage or Kilometers is not a true indication of the engine's life or condition. These figures don't represent idling time, operation in stop in go traffic, etc...

Aside from the obvious appearance of the MC, to determine the condition on an engine, perform a cylinder compression test and a leak-down test.

If all readings are within specs, enjoy! If the seller or owner will not perform these tests and permit you to witness the tests, move on.
