Motorcycle Repair: CHANGING EXHAUST, forward controls, xlc

JUST BOUGHT A 1999 SPORTSTER XLC WITH FORWARD CONTROLS AND FACTORY EXHAUST WHICH SEEMS TO BE VERY RESTRICTIVE, WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE OUT EXHAUST ON MY OWN AND HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE CONTROLS AND ALSO RE-JETTING, IS THIS A BIG DEAL. USED TO WORK ON CARS AND BIKES ABOUT 25-30 YRS AGO WHEN THINGS WERE A LOT SIMPLER.  THANKS FOR ANY INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME.

it is no big deal unless you install a exhaust that is no good. ones that KILL HORSE POWER AND TORQUE.  there are a lot of exhaust systems out there and only a few that work. hope you do not chose the wrong one. you will NEVER get the bike jetted correctly with a bad exhaust system.  JOHNNY
