1996 harly 1340 i have oil comeing out of vent next to carb.bike does not smoke and runs good. put in new cam and oil gears 3 weeks ago. started today blowing oil out vent. HELP
Answer -
Your oil is from the heads breathing. It doesnt hurt anything, but it does make a mess. There are small flapper valves in the rocker boxes that is suppose the let the air out and a small mist of oil usually goes with it. Over time they get weak and let out more oil. Usually I run that vent line down and to the bottom of the bike so it will drip on the ground and not on the motor. You can remove the rocker boxes and change the flapper valve with not much of a problem. The rocker box covers are three pieces. Remove the top on and the flapper valves are located in the second one.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike          Mike iam still haveing promblems . my oil is staying in the block it will not go back to tank . i put in new gears on oil pump.used a new filter from autozone. pulled filter and can blow air to tank from there. pump looks good but can not get oil back to tank . HELP

Answer
If I understand you correctly, you have no return flow to oil tank?  If that is the case then when you put the oil pump together you either left out the keyway, on the return side of the punp, or the keyway slipped out when you were putting the gears in.
