Motorcycle Repair: Honda CB750 front forks, honda cb750, torque wrench

Question
The right front fork of my 2000 nighthawk is leaving an oily film on the exposed part of the fork.  Does this mean that the oil seal is going?  If so, can I repair this or do i have to take it to a shop?

Answer
Hi Earnest.
Yes, it is leaking and yes, you can fix it yourself.  However, in addition to the regular tools, it requires one special tool to disassemble the fork as well as a torque wrench.

If you do not wish to buy the special fork tool, then let a pro do it, since he will have all of the tools required to fix it.  If you wish to repair it yourself, then make sure that you follow the directions and specs as listed in the repair manual.

Good luck.
