Motorcycle Repair: clutch reprair on a 600 hurricane, e mail address, honda 600

Question
I need information on replacement of the clutch on a 1988 honda 600 cc hurricane.  My son bought the bike a year ago and now has the clutch slipping.
Needless to say I'm going to have to foot the bill for this and the shop is asking $400 plus for this job.  what tools do I need?  Is it even possible for a shade tree guy to do this?
Please do not share my E-mail address with any other sights.
Thanks
H.

Answer
Hi Harry.
Actually, replacing the clutchplates and springs is quite simple and only takes a couple of hours.

Get the repair manual as it will have a complete listing of instructions, special tools and (very important) the torqueing specs when you assemble it.

There will be a couple of special tools that you will need.  One is a torque wrench, the other is a special tool that is designed to hold the clutch and flywheel in place while turning the bolts.

Good luck.
