UK Car Repair: Over heating, radiator fan, opel corsa 1

Question
QUESTION: Hi sir,
I am owning an opel corsa 1.4gsi Now a days my vehicle is getting over heated and tends to gets off on the ride by getting rpm to zero . I got some petrol smells also when gets to a long ride. Pls do the needful for trouble shooting

ANSWER: how does it overheat, gradually going toward red, or jumping up after about 10 minutes drive?

Does revving the engine make the temp go down for a second?
If so It's the water pump needs changing.

Does the heater work when the engine is hot? or does it blow cold air even when the engine is cooking?

Any other running problems, high fuel consumption. misfiring during acceleration?
Hard starting? Uneven tickover?

--- For your info, you can let the temp get *NEAR* THE RED, but no INTO THE RED>
         otherwise you'll need a headgasket+skim---

QUESTION: ya sir it gradually becomes heated after a running of 10 kms,and gets to turn off when heater panel needle comes to middle position of meter,ya the heater works when the engine is hot fuel consumption gets high now a days when the radiator fan works temperature goes down for a short period ,radiator fan pull hot air towards engine when it starts

ANSWER: Just to confirm, the engine stops when the temp gets halfway, I dont understand "gets to 0-RPM"

I think this could be a water flow problem,

The heater works so the water pump is functioning.

first and cheapest possibility is an airlock.

Take the pipe off the top left of the engine that goes to the radiator, (undo the clip with a screwdriver till the clip will slip down the pipe) lift this (connected to top of radiator) pipe up higher than the engine pipe and fill it with water till water comes out of the engine where you took the pipe off, refit the pipe and try to let as little air in as possible, pour water in the gap as you put the pipe on. - this is the foolproof way to make sure there is no airlock.

Then if still no different I suspect a blocked radiator, It could be cured by reverse flushing the radiator with a hosepipe (send water up the bottom pipe) but probably will need a new radiator or a scrapper radiator.

QUESTION: normally corsa engine starts at 1 x 1000rpm but on ride after heating rpm gets to zero and gets turn off

Answer
??the engine is still running at this time but the RPM needle just drops to zero?

---

If that happens I'd have the battery and alternator checked out, THAT sounds like a power issue.

Are you sure the car is overheating, not just the temp going up on its own... is the engine noticeably hotter and does the heater give out hotter air when it is showing it's overheating?

This "could" just be the symptoms of an electrical problem.
