Motorcycle Repair: Carburetor removal, honda cbr, throttle cables

Question
Mark,
I have a '93 Honda CBR F2.  I am in the process of installing new throttle cables and can't get the carbs off.  I have loosened the clamps for the engine side of the manifolds, and it wiggles a little bit, but I can't pull it off.  My repair/maintenance manual says that it should slide off.  Am I missing something?  Is there some kind of notch that holds them in place?  Or could it just be stuck from the rubber melting to the engine?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks,

Nick

Answer
Hi Nick,

Loosen the intake manifold screws until you can feel the end of each screw flush with the clamp-nut. This allows maximum expansion of the rubber manifolds when removing and installing. There's nothing to prevent the carbs from coming off. Pull firmly, pull one side at a time if necessary.

The rubber will not melt to the engine.
