Nissan Repair: oil smell inside of vehicle, valve cover gasket, question with regard

Question
Hello,
I have a question with regard to the smell of oil burning when I am driving my car.  This smell started about 4 weeks ago, I did have my oil changed around that time frame.  I have checked the oil pan bolt, it is tight.  I have noticed several spots of oil on my drive way lately, could this all be tied in together?  I also had my transmission replaced about 7 weeks ago, could something there be causing this?  Thanks for your help..

PS, The smell is very strong after driving the car about 30 minutes each way.

Answer
Chris,

I would bet the oil change got onto the exhaust and that is where the smell is coming from.  Now, you could have a leaky seal or a leaky valve cover gasket.  It is just a matter of getting under the car and racking the leak to its source.  I like to wipe things down and park the car on cardboard and then do it again and after several days you find that leak.  Most Nissans leak at the front seal or the valve cover gasket.  Give it a try and email me back.
