Hi Johnny,

Trace voltage, ensure power is getting to all components of the ignition system.

Check breaker point contacts for rust, wear, corrosion, etc.. Check point gap, check condensors, check ignition timing, and spark plugs. Replace as needed.

Remove carbs and inspect float bowls for dried gas (varnishing). Clean as needed.

Change engine oil and filter. Change air filter.

Johnny,

You wrote: "I got the bike started, but the engine hits 1000 degrees..."

Mark: I'm not sure what you mean by this. Is it running hot?

Mark: Try adjusting the clutch and clutch cable. The carburetors may or may not need synchronized. Were the needles or mercury level within specs when you synchronized them recently? If so, they should be fine. You can check again if in doubt.
