Motorcycle Repair: Rough idling and missing at low speeds, model maxims, yamaha 750

Question
I have a 1982 Yamaha 750 Maxim (4 cylinder)and I just got it out of the shop to repair this problem and it is little if any better.  Is this common with this model in that there is little that can be done?  The bike runs good otherwise I just don't like riding around town at 30 MPH on a motorcycle that misses intermitently.  I put new plugs in it and the shop cleaned the carbs and ran a compression check which came out OK to my knowledge.

Answer
Hi Dwight,

This problem is not common with this model. Maxims are fast and powerful MC's when running properly. I suspect the carburetors were not properly cleaned or were re-contaminated when fuel from the gas tank was re-introduced into the carbs. Did the carb clean include carb synchronization?

Do you know cylinder compression readings?

Describe the appearance of the old spark plugs to me.

Examine the interior of the gas tank. Did you see any rust?
