Motorcycle Repair: throttle cable on handle bars, throttle cables, handle bars

Question
I just installed a set of handle bars risers...i would like to reroute my 2 throttle cables...would it be easier to remove the screws holding the cables to the carburator or take the split housing apart on the right handle bar...if i take it apart is there anything that will spring out...how is it placed in there? ...the 2 cables are set almost under the tank...do i have to raise the tank...if you can help...thanks

Answer
Hi Don,

I find it easiest to remove cables at the throttle end. Nothing will spring out. Remember how it comes apart. Have confidence and just get into it. Work slowly and examine things as they are as you work.

Gas tank should come off for best access, though you may be able to accomplish the task with leaving it in place.
