Motorcycle Repair: CLUTCH, honda cb360t, hi doug

Question
HI CHRIS,
I HAVE A 1975 HONDA CB360T. THE CLUTCH IS SLIPPING, ESPECIALLY UNDER A HEAVIER LOAD, OR WHEN I TRY TO GO FASTER IN HIGHER GEARS. CAN THIS BE ADJUSTED OR DO I NEED A NEW CLUTCH?
THANKS..DOUG

Answer
Hi Doug.
There should be an adjustment for the clutch tension(The adjuster for the clutch will be shown in the repair manual, if it has one at all).  However, if this is the original clutch or if the bike has more than 40,000 miles on it, I would be inclined to think that it is more likely that the clutch needs to be rebuilt.

Check the components of the clutchbasket assembly against what the manual has and you will likely find that more than half, including the springs, are not within specs and need to be replaced.

Let me know what you find.
Good luck.
