Motorcycle Repair: Honda Rebel, honda rebel, boggs

Question
I bought a honda rebel (1987) this weekend to do a little work and ride. The biggest issue on it is that It will not idle, the choke has to be on about half to crank, and them it boggs down after a few seconds, or it you give it throttle.

   Do you have any suggestions.

Answer
Hi Jason.
My guess is that the bike sat for a long time before you got hold of it, so there are a couple of things that you will need to do.

1)  Remove and thoroughly clean the carbs.

2)  Remove any old fuel from the bike and dispose of it properly, then reseal the tank.

3)  Check and adjust the synchronization on the carbs.

Start with those and see what you end up with.
Good luck.
