Motorcycle Repair: Engine Knocking sound..., valve adjustment, falcon

Question
Christopher

I found out that somehow my brand new starter went bad...so i replaced it.

Bike works.

However, i do have this noise...
Knocking Noise...around the engine area...gets faster beat when you increase the speed (accelater).

Its been like this for a long time.
What could it be?
Where can i start trouble shoot.

Could it be the TIMING?

Answer
Hi Raj.
Is it in the area of the upper cylinders?  If it is, then start by doing a valve adjustment on the bike.  The adjustment specs and proceedures are in the repair manual, so just follow those and that will fix the problem if it is in fact the valves.

I the sound is coming from somewhere else in the engine, then where is it coming from?  If it is not the valves, then it could be indicative of a larger, or more expensive to repair problem.

Let me know.
Good luck.
