Motorcycle Repair: fork oil change, cb 900, custom honda

Question
I have a 1980 cb 900 custom honda--air shocks front and rear. I am wanting to change the front fork oil. After reading the manual I'm not real sure that I can do this.I change all the other oils myself and do most all of my own maint. I was spooked by the part about not crossthreading the fork cap while applying pressure on the spring while installing the cap-----How hard is this? thanks for any insight into this

Answer
Hi Bill.
This kind of concern is common for almost all bikes at some point or another.

The thing to remember about it is this; if you feel it sticking, don't force it.  Back it out and try again.  Once it grabs correctly, it will always screw in smoothly once the threads catch.  It just takes you using your sense of touch and a little finesse.

Good luck.
