Motorcycle Repair: smoke, service bulletins, oil consumption

Question
i have a 1999 goldwing se with 11500 miles. occasionally it will puff a little blue smoke on start up. no pattern, does'nt seem to matter if engine is cold or hot, no oil consumption, mostly embarrassing.

Answer
Dwayne, late model GWs don't really fall into the catagory of vintage Hondas for me. There are numerous GW websites who may have a more accurate take on this issue, as well as the possibility of service bulletins from Honda at your dealers.

I do know that the early Wings, when left on their side stands overnight after a ride, would draw in some oil past the rings on the left side as the air space in the cylinders cooled. See if the symptoms change when the bike is left on the center stand vs the side stand after a ride.

Changing to a different oil type/grade may affect this issue, but I don't have any authoritative information to share with you about it.
