clutch/my brake fluid is low would that stop my bike from going into gear. the front brake resevior is low and when i start the bike it shuts off when removed from neutral.it's  a yamaha 1993 xv535.thanks

Answer
Zac,
Sounds like you may need to adjust your clutch cable. If the clutch doesn't fully dissengauge when you pull the lever in, the engine will still be turning the transmission when you try to engauge first.  It's like tring to shiht into gear from a dead stop w/o using the clutch.  You need to take up the slack at either end of the cable so you are left w/ a little free play before the clutch cable starts to pull.  If that doesn't do it you may have a siezed clutch, the discs are stuck together.  To free them coast down a hill in neutral and pop the bike into second gear.  That will break loose the discs.  After that change the gear box oil.

Hope this helps,
Mike
