Motorcycle Repair: FZR600 Tachometer, cable replacement, tachs

Hi Chris,
 I have been trying to find out why my tachometer reads double what it should.  It did it now and then last year, but this year when i pulled it out of storage it does it all the time.  It doesnt appear to cause any problems other than annoy me, but I want to fix it.  Any assistance you may provide is much appreciated.

Hi Nathan.
 Like many of us, you have an electronic, rather than mechanical, tach.  The old mechanical ones are great, but I think that it was to save weight and cable replacement cost, that manufacturers switched to electronic tachs (of course it could also have been just to show off as well.....who knows).

What you have is a short in the wiring.  Chase that down and you will find your problem.  It will be easier to fix, than to find, though.
