Motorcycle Repair: Getting Fuel, yamaha seca 2, vacuum line

Question
Yeah Chris,

Hey, I just got through re-jetting my carbs on my 1996 Yamaha Seca 2 and put everything back together, put gas in the tank after I hooked up all the lines and it won't start. I am not sure if I hooked all of the lines up properly. I was hoping you could tell me what goes where. I have two lines that come off of the valve from the gas tank. Then, I have one line coming directly from the gas tank. The other two lines are on the number 1 and 2 carbs. I am getting a good spark and compression so I know it isn't that. It was running when I parked it in November 2003 and started working on the body. I am guessing I have done something wrong, but not sure what that something is. If you could please help me out on this it would be muchly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Justin.
Well, the fuel tank normally only has a fuel line from the valve to the carbs and a thinner vacuum line from the fuel valve to one of the manifolds (normally manifold #4).

As far as the 2nd fuel line from the tank itself.  I have never seen that on a Honda before.  This could be a second fuel line, or a pressure relief line.  I am not sure.  The repair manual will show what that additional line from the tank is and where it hooks up.

Good luck.
