Motorcycle Repair: Primary Chain Adjustment, chain tensioner, ground cable

Question
I ride it like I stole it. The primary chain suffers as a result. It is an 03 Superglide with just over 10k miles. I adjusted the primary chain once before and thought It would be an easy task this time. However, when torking the nut down it failed to tighten. Failed being the key word.
What is in involved in replacing the bolt on the tensioner?

Answer
I would replace the stock primary chain tensoiner with a after market unit called a M6 chain tensioner, this will keep the chain from coming loose, it is not hard to install. first remove ground cable from battery and then drain primary oil out of primary and then remove primary outer cover, now remove primary chain tensioner and follow the instructions on the M6 tensioner.
