1976 XLCH sportster

I just rebuilt my 12 volt generator,had it checked before putting it back on the bike and it checked out okay.  I put it back on the bike, polarized it and started the bike.  My generator light is on after starting the bike.  I have an accell solid state voltage regulator.  Can the regulator be bad?  How do I check it?  Do you have any other sugestions to a possible problem?

Since you know the generator is good, hook a volt meter to the battery and see if your getting a charge. If not then check your wiring. If it is good then  your regulator is probably bad. There is no test for the regulator. It by a process of elemination.
