Motorcycle Repair: not getting fuel, honda cb750 nighthawk, 1980 honda cb750

Question
I changed the spark plugs and the battery on my 1980 honda CB750 nighthawk and when i tried to start it, it seemed like it wasnt getting fuel to the carberateurs. gas tank is full, and the fuel control valve is on, please help me with this.

Answer
Hi Jim.
Have you double-checked the connection of the plugs to make sure that they are in correctly?  This may sound stupid, but many people do this.  The connection feels like it's in, but it isn't really, so you get no spark.  Also check the ignition fuse.  If that has blown, then you won't get spark either.  As long as the bike was running before the change of plugs and battery and it hasn't set for a long period immediately prior to this latest change, then it should start up.

If this is a post-winter storage startup, then the problem is probably in the carbs, which will need to be properly cleaned.

Let me know what happens.
Good luck.
