Question - Thanks.  I have checked the spark plugs.  The bike makes  no attempt whatsoever to start. When I push the start button, I get nothing.  The engine doesn't even try to crank.  Any other suggestions?
Tim

I started my bike to let it warm up with the choke on, turned the choke down half-way with the bike running.  After a minute, the bike died and when I tried to restart it, nothing happened.  The bike will not restart.  I have tail lights, turn signals, and horn, but no headlight when I turn the ignition on.  I have checked all the fuses, including the main fuse, and have replaced the battery.  Still nothing.  I've only had the bike a month or so, and have had no problems up till this point.

Hi Tim,

Remove and check the spark plugs for fouling. I suspect they were carbon fouled by the choke. Carbon fouling will appear as black sooty coating on the plugs. If so, clean and reinstall. You may use carburetor clearer and a tooth brush for cleaning. If cleaning doesn't work, replace the spark plugs.

Things to consider with using choke: Use the choke sparingly. Avoid reapplying choke after starting. Avoid returning to full choke after choke has been moved to another position.

Respectfully,

Answer
Tim,

1. Disassemble the starter button control housing. Examine the starter button switch. Clean and lube with dielectric grease if necessary.

2. Disconnect the starter motor solenoid of all wires. Apply 12vdc across the primary winding by touching the small leads to the battery (remove from 12vdc soure after a second.) The solenoid should click loudly when you touch it to a 12vdc source. If not, it's defective. They are cleanable, but requires desoldering and resoldering.
