Motorcycle Repair: Honda 1999 VT750 ACE - Electrical Short, honda vt750, amp fuse

Question
Mark,
Within the last week, whenever I hit the ignition on my Honda VT750 Shadow, the 15 amp fuse for the ignition/tail lights/horn blows.  I have checked the visible wires from the ignition switch, from the tail lights and from the battery to the fuse box and can find nothing to reflect a short.  I have taken the bulbs out of the tail light assembly one-by-one to trace the problem, but without success.  Any ideas or is it time to take it into the shop for detailed inspection?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Roy,

Before investing in the local authorities (dealer), try disassembling the starter button control. There are screws under the control. Remove them and the control separates. Inspect the starter button and surroundings. Look here for the short. Trace the wiring from the button, to where the sub-harness leads. Investigate for shorts along the way.
