Hi,
Will a 9 stud barrell fit to pre-unit cases?
Will an 8 stud alloy head fit to a 9 stud barrell?
Also, will a 9 stud head fit to an 8 stud barrell?

Answer
Well, anything can be made to fit, but changes were made to the head after the change to unit-construction and the 9 stud head, I would stick with the correct items if I were you, although a nine stud barrel and head would stop any cyl head gasket problems on a pre-unit.
