Motorcycle Repair: jet, 1100 vstar, parts catalogs

I just bought A Yamaha 1100 vstar.  I look in the parts catalogs and there are kits called jet kits.  They say they make your bike perform better.  Do they really work, and if so, which brand do you recommend?  Thanks.

 These jet kits do work really well, when installed by someone that absolutely knows what he/she is doing with them.

However, I do not recommend them at all since they are for performance uses, like street and track racing.  For your bike, the factory did a fabulous job of setting up the engine and carbs for best performance and range.  Changing the jets may make you faster, but your mileage will, quite likely, suffer greatly.
