Motorcycle Repair: rebuilding a solenoid on 97 heritage hd, harley service, starter button

Question
what does rebuilding a solenoid consist of? do you have to disasemble the starter housing and do you need any specialty tools?If you have a diagram it would help.

The solenoid is nothing more than a magnet the is controled by the starter button. The kit usually consists of the plunger and various gaskets that you will need. You do not need any special tools to do the work and you do not have to take the starter apart. Ther is a diagram in the harley service manual. In this forum there is no way to send pics, only text.
