Motorcycle Repair: Brakes, dot 5 brake fluid, jumper wire

Question
I have a 1973 Sportster and putting new hand controls on it.Need to know if there is anything I need to do to the master cylinder before I install it,like a pre-lube or anything like that. Also, is there a  trick to rebuilding the master cylinders for these bikes(harley's I mean).Eveyone I know and have talked to have not been able to get them not to leak after rebuilding them.Any ideas you may have. And I am using the dot 5 brake fluid that is recommended.Any help is very helpful. Also one more question. On the small square voltage regulators, which terminals do I use to pulurize the charging system? Thanks, Mike S.

Answer
No there is nothing you need to do for the master cylinder to install the new hand controls.
The only trick I can think of in rebuilding a master cylinder is dont do it. I also have the same problem of them leaking. Over the years I dont rebuild them, I just replace them.
To flash the generator, momentarily touch a jumper wire from the BAT terminal and the GEN terminal on the regulator.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
