Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki DR 600 electrical, suzuki dr 600, test light

I have no spark on 86 DR 600, Checked magneto, coils, plugs grounds, wire condition...all check out fine. Can you test a CDI box?  Also will I see voltage with a test light on the ignition system wiring...ie power source, magneto connctions and coil connections? Or does the engine have to be turned over to see voltage? Thank you in advance

Q: Can you test a CDI box?
A: Some dealers have the test equipment and some CDI/TCI's can be tested.


Q: Also will I see voltage with a test light on the ignition system wiring...ie power source, magneto connctions and coil connections? Or does the engine have to be turned over to see voltage?
A: Your 12V test light may illuminate if the circuit being investigated is operating and reaches 12V.
