Motorcycle Repair: bandit 600 fuel probs?, fuel system treatment, bandit 600

Question
hello chris, wonder if you could help.
i have a bandit 600 and it has been sat fro a few months in the garage covered up.
i took it out the other day and it conked out on me. The engine just slowly died. waited 5 mins then started it up and she drove away merrily for about 3 mins then the same thing happened again, and again. could this be a fuel prob, seperation of old petrol maybe? the bike is a t reg and has only done 5000 miles with one owner so its not been abused.
could you shed some light?

cheers mate.

Answer
Hi Dave.
You left fuel in the system while it sat for a few months.  That definitely tells me that the bike has problems in the fuel system.

Get rid of the old fuel, reseal the tank and pull, disassemble and clean the carbs.

When you replace the fuel, put a fuel system treatment in the tank as well to get the fuel line and fuel valve cleaned out as well.  I recommend the STP with jetfuel in it, If you can get it in your area.  If not, just get the best that you can.

Good luck.
