Motorcycle Repair: kawasaki repair, fiberglass panels, coat spray

Question
hi, I was in a mild wreck in the fall, the bike was laid down doing about 35mph when I was cut off by a car. Anyway, the damage was not as bad as I expected, there are some scuffs that need to be fixed if you have any advice, they are on the pipe as well as the sides of the fairings. these are minor worries for me though. My most important fix is the rear brake pedal, the pedal was cracked off of the frame of the bike, as far as I know the brake still works, however it cannot be used because it hangs from the frame. I was wondering if you had any suggestions to reattaching the pedal to the frame, perhaps welding? just let me know, thanks

Answer
Hi Drew,

Glad to hear you're well after the crash.

There are many websites to help you with bodywork and painting. Try this site for example: http://www.floribamariders.com/winer3.htm

You can make your own fiberglass panels or buy aftermarket products less than the factory parts. I've made my own with a small investment of the gel coat spray gun. You can recover the expense by selling a set of the panels to someone.

I would have to see the brake lever to say about the repair. Talk with a body shop or welder in your area about making the fix. They'll need to see the parts, too.

Respectfully,
